About Me and My Practice
| My Approach | Client TestimonialsBiography
I began working to some extent with church youth in 1969 and have been counseling in some capacity since that time. Initially I worked as a volunteer with troubled youth at churches and youth rehabilitation facilities while my actual vocation was construction. For several years I and my wife directed a singles group at the church we attended and were also involved in outreach at The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, Washington. My first formal counseling experience was at TESC where, as part of my bachelor's degree in psychology education program, I interned as a peer counselor in the college counseling center. As such I helped students of various ages, cultures and ethnicities deal with emotional, cultural and philosophical problems. After graduating from TESC, I worked my way through graduate school as a vocational counselor and case manager, facilitating physical rehabilitation and vocational retraining for injured civilian workers and military personnel.
I completed my graduate work in the Marriage and Family program at Chapman University of Orange, California. After receiving a master's degree, I worked at a nonprofit community health care agency in Lakewood, Washington. After five years working as a child and family counselor, I launched my private counseling practice.
My wife and I have been married since 1979. Our daughter is also a TESC graduate, where she earned a bachelor's of science degree; she is now a zoo keeper ...and playing drums in a rock band.
In August of 2024, my wife and I moved to Arizona. I am curently licensed in Washington and Arizona, and doing virtual counseling sessions in both states.
